48. Flour-Flower

Yesterday I had such an awesome night with my great friends. Thank you guys for this wonderful birthday party!

When everyone had left, I made these flowers out of flour which was left from the pizza:

Aaand, I got some beautiful flowers which I don't want to keep back from you:

47. Die Zauberflöte

Last night I went to Weimar with some friends to watch Mozart's magic flute. I liked it very much, even though I found it a bit hard to understand some singers (they shouldn't only use subtitles in Italian operas, but also in German ones...).

I made this flower out of some tickets, as a remembrance of this lovely evening:

46. Birthday preps

Today I was at the supermarket, buying some things for my birthday party on Sunday (wohoo ;) ). We'll have pizza =) Some of the ingredients had to serve for those flowers:

Tinned tomatoes and maize...                  ... and fresh tomatoes.

44. Painting + 45. Colours

Some weeks ago in my hometown there was an autumn market where some artists were exhibiting their work. I especially liked the style of one of those artists. His paintings were very colourful and had a special look which I somehow tried to do myself today. This is the  result (of course far from the works of the artist - but I like it anyhow):

When I was cleaning the place where I had mixed the colours, I thought somehow the colours looked too nice to be simply wiped off. So I decided to make other flowers, hence bringing me to be up to date again =)

43. Wax

When I came home today from a seminar at the university, I found this on my desk:

My flatmate had done it =) She had asked me before if I wanted to help her and her friend decorating the donuts they had just made. As I had to leave, she made one for me and put all those cups around it to make it look like a flower. This made my motivation rise again as it made me realize that there are more people caring about and being interested in my project than I sometimes think. Thank you Steffi!

After a nice evening with my other flatmate, watching films and drinking eggnog (the first this winter, yummy!), I made this flower of wax:

When making it I kept in mind the things Lena told me in context of my newest crisis: I decided to make a flower each day, not a breathtaking piece of art. Thank you Lena for reminding me of that!

42. Crisis - Child's painting

Again I am in some kind of crisis. Again I didn't manage to make a flower yesterday and didn't really find a project for today. And again it's like this: I am two days behind, beginning to think about giving up. If I am already having problems with getting inspired now, how will I be able to make the next 323 days?? At the moment it feels a bit like a rollercoaster. My motivation is going up and down, throwing me from one side to another. In one moment I'm totally excited about what I have already done and what I can do else. In another moment I feel like nothing is good enough and my ideas are boring and uncreative or I'm getting annoyed with myself because again I didn't manage to realize an idea I had.

At least I could pull myself together to start some kind of project-therapy: Draw a painting which is as colourful as possible, and don't care if it looks like painted by a child. While drawing I remembered the drawing techniques of my childhood and the frustration of the beginning got better in the process of drawing a smiling sun, birds and butterflies and lots of colourful flowers.

Tomorrow again I will try to regain some of my motivation, maybe then I can catch up on today's flower.

41. Kite

Today was such a nice weather that we (what a surprise) decided to go hiking (but this time it was just a really short tour). We also brought our kites and let them fly, which I haven't done for a long time. It was so much fun! (Well, at least with the kite that stayed in the air...).

It was Lena's idea to make a star and a flower from the kite's tail:

40. Autumn lantern

Yesterday I started a project that I just finished a few minutes ago. Somehow yesterday time went by more quickly than normally and when I finally recognized that it was half past one in the night, I decided to go on the next day...

For the lantern I used coloured cartboard, transparent paper, autumn leaves and Lena's window decoration as inspiration. And here it is:

39. Halloween pumpkin

The past weeks have been so much fun! I spent so much time with really great people doing great things and it looks like the next days and hopefully weeks this will just go on like this!
Today again was an awesome day. I met Lena to make Halloween pumpkins and lots of things you can make out of pumpkin (soup, pie and waffles). Some friends joined us in the evening and we had a delicious autumn dinner together, followed by some playing and singing.

Of course we made our  Halloween pumpkins in the style of our project =) This is mine:

38. Another beaded flower

Yesterday I made another beaded flower, but this time a quite different one. The inner circle is from birch bark I found on one of our hikes. Actually I wanted to make earrings in a completely different design, but while I was trying some beads and designs I suddenly had the idea for this one.
I dont't really know if I really like it or not. I like the idea and the fact that you can turn it around and it looks completely different. But somehow it is irregular and I don't really know how I can use it (as a pendant, or for a bracelet. or a brooch, or as christmas tree decoration?). Maybe I will do it again with a smaller piece of bark... (Hello again perfectionism... ;) ).

37. A gift

About an hour ago I received a parcel, wohoo =) Now someone is finally going to get her birthday present! Of course in flowery wrapping paper (this way I got to reuse my potato stamps).

36. Flowers and trees

Yesterday evening our internet (once more - grrr...) didn't work so this post, again, comes a bit late.

After my motivational lack the days before, yesterday I found some of the initial enthusiasm back (thanks Lena for your cheering =) )
I had found some leaves which I had collected in one of our hikes last week and decided to dabble a bit in water colours. The outcome was a painting/ collage with autumn trees and flowers in a water colour countryside.
Normally I dont't like the result when I decide to paint or draw anything, but this one I liked surprisingly much.

35. Bowling flower

This night I was bowling with some friends. It was so much fun! And winning is not everything... :P
Of course I had to take the opportunity and use the bowling balls for making a flower.

By the way: Of course we also made a star ;)

34. Window-Flowers

This post comes quite late.
Yesterday again was a very nice and eventful day (with breakfast with friends, hiking, and choir-meeting). And unfortunately a day without flowers...
Today wasn't so eventful, but nevertheless I found it hard to think of a flower-project for today. Somehow I'm feeling that, at the moment, it is getting harder to follow my challenge. But well... it's a challenge! And after some thinking and unmotivated drawing I finally found a motivating idea for some flowers: potato stamps =) I decided to decorate my window a bit, as there are less and less flowers outside. Here you can see the result:

And here is how it looks like in daylight:

In reality the colours look a bit more intensive.

33. Lachgummi

Today I spent a very nice evening watching films with two very good friends (like yesterday). It was just us, Sherlock, a penguin and lots of sweets =)

32. Magnets

Yesterday I began a project which first had to dry before I could finish it today. I made flower-magnets out of air-hardening clay. I wanted to do this for several days now, but it took about a week until I found the time to finally realize it.

31. Asters

Today I went hiking with two very good friends of mine. We made about 18km in mostly wonderful hiking-weather. It was so nice to wander along the hills around Jena, looking down into the valleys with their autumn-leaved trees =)
When we were already going back we found some asters, hanging out of a garden fence. Asters are my favourite flowers, so I couldn't resist to take some home ;)

P.S.: To tell the truth, actually I didn't plan this to be my today's project. But I was so tired when I came back home that I just couldn't pull myself together and do anything else than eating dinner, drinking some tea and lingering behind the computer for some time. And now I will go to sleep...

30. Limericks

I am a poet!! When I had the idea of writing a poem at first I though this would never work and I would soon come to the point where I would be annoyed and throw my pen into some corner of my room. But somehow it worked and I enjoyed it so much that I even made two limericks!

They are nothing special but nevertheless I like them =)

Es war einmal ein Matrose,
der pflückte entzückt eine Rose.
Die duftete gut
und war rot wie Blut
und schmückte so schön seine Hose.

Ein Jüngling in seiner Kajüte,
der schnupperte an einer Blüte.
Die gab ihm die Greta,
die ist jetzt auf Kreta,
verkauft da mit Bauchladen Hüte.

P.S.: Today I had a great day with great friends. Thank you girls for Zwiebelkuchen and much fun!!

29. Morning greeting

Today again I didn't manage to do the project I wanted to do for several days now (maybe on Friday when I will have a bit more time for that...). So I decided to write a short bloomy greeting for my flat mates on our bathroom mirror instead:

28. Flames on the water

Today I decided to put an idea into action which I had with some inspiration of my friend Lena: To do something with water and fire. This is the result:

I expected that the fire would extinguish quite soon because of water running into the candles. But they are still burning! The wax and the water seem to keep each other from running in or out.

Update: Meanwhile the wax of the red candle in the middle has spread a bit and one of the candles has started floating (apparently I didn't stick it to the bowl properly ). It's quite interesting to follow the changes =)

27. Calendar

Today I decided that my calendar had waited long enough for its new cover (I always design my own cover for my calendars). So here it is (front and back):

It took some time until I had decided which cover was the best for this year. On the fotos the blue isn't really the right shade. In reality it is a bit more purple-blue (much more beautiful).
If you are now contemplating about where you have seen this pattern before: I took it from a Yogi tea package, cut it out, painted it and sticked it on the book ;)

26. Advertisement

I know, this post comes quite late, but better late than never.
Yesterday I was at a very nice festival called "Zwiebelmarkt" (onion market) in Weimar. It was much bigger than I had expected and especially much colder... We had a lot of fun strolling strough the streets, over the medieval market, gazing at the things you can make out of onions and garlic (have you ever tried garlic schnaps?). In the evening we watched a very cool party-band called "Horizont". This is their frontman:

As the only thing I could do yesterday when I came home was falling into my bed, I decided to postpone yesterday's flower one day.
Today I remembered a very funny advertisement of a florist I cut out from a journal some years ago.  I didn't want to keep it back from you so I decided to declare it yesterday's project:

In English the text says: "We always take the direct way. No matter, how hard it is."

25. Autumn sends its greetings

While I was just going to the library today, I passed a low wall with lots of beechnuts and acorns on it. I ate some beechnuts* and of course I made some flowers ;)

* If you haven't tried this before, try it! They are really delicious, not only for squirrels. They taste  like walnuts but without the bitter skin. Of course you have to peel them before. And you shouldn't eat too much of them, because large amounts can be toxic.

24. Mealtime!

ood artWow... I just came home from a wonderful, heart-warming and vitalizing evening with a lot of laughter, singing, dancing and community. It was so good to see all those lovely people again whom I haven't seen for such a long time. Thank you guys for these wonderful hours!

And even the food was so good... Today's flowers show just a small part of the numerous things we had for dinner. Yummy =)

PS: Note the face in the lower left corner of the first foto (I just noticed it a few seconds ago). It was the only angry face this evening ;)

23. Bloomy beads bracelet

At times I feel full of creative energy. Then I often feel the need of making some jewellery out of my numerous beads, occupying a lot of space in my closet.

Today was such a day. I decided to make some beads on my own by winding some bloomy fabric around wooden beads. I used those to make a romantic (and maybe somewhat trashy) bracelet.

22. Cinnamon-sugar

I love to re-use old things that others would simply cast away. Today I painted an empty cough drops tin. First I used white acrylic paint as ground (I can't tell you how many coatings it took to get a smooth white surface...), then I painted some blue flowers and ornaments on it. After having decided how to use the can I wrote the words of the future content on it (cinnamon-sugar). I'm really looking forward to taking it in use tomorrow, when the colors will be dry enough.

21. Water lily

After a long day I am quite tired now. So I decided to use my list where, in the beginning of my project, I noted some ideas of flowers for days where nothing flower-like would cross my way or my mind. One of those ideas was to make an unfolding water lily by cutting a flower out of paper, folding its petals and placing the flower in a bowl of water.
It was so much fun! I have done this several times in my childhood but I think I have never been so fascinated of it like this time =)

20. Wind wheel

Yesterday I decided to use my window colors once again, which I haven't done for a long time. I painted a floral pattern in different shades of blue on a thick plastic foil to make a wind wheel. Today I folded it and tried to put it on a stick.
It was so annoying... It took so long to find a screw which was appropriate for this purpose (I didn't count the times I realized it was too short and had to take another one). And to drill a hole into that stick which wasn't too small or too big (the stick broke several times because of that). And to find  screw nuts fitting the screw.
Fortunately my mother helped me (THANK YOU!), otherwise the wheel would have landed in some corner of my room, unfinished. With her help at least I could finish it, which, nevertheless, couldn't really lift my spirits.

The final outcome is rather a storm wheel than a wind wheel. You have to blow very strongly to make it turn. Maybe one day I will find a way to make it turn more smoothly...

19. Sparkling stones

Yesterday I was at the 60th birthday of one of my uncles. We had a lot of fun, especially with the  decoration =) My mother helped me by making a flower her own (the second one).
