91. Hand with flowers

On Thursday I was at the farewell party of a member of our choir. She asked each of us to paint a part of her wall and ceiling above her loft bed with our hand. I made one with - wait for it - flowers! (What a surprise...)

I hope she will be happy in her new home town. And I am looking forward to meet her again at the end of this year =)

90. Staple gun flower

The flower I made on Wednesday (I can't even tell you why I didn't make one on Tuesday...) had to be really quick (because I had to prepare a presentation for university), so I cut out a flower from coloured paper and stapled it to another piece of coloured paper. Nothing special, not a beauty - but at least a flower.

89. Tangerine peel flower

Last week was just exhausting. So I didn't get around to posting my flowers and, on some days, even didn't find the time or motivation to make one =(

So here's the first one to post today, a flower I made on Monday at the Christmas party of my choir (which was really fun!!).

88. Ginger-nut-flowers

Today, unexpectedly, I had some free time: Actually we wanted to take ski lessons today, but on Friday the owner of the ski school called us and canceled the lessons because of the weather conditions - it's just too warm for December!). So I decided to bake some more christmas cookies =)

Normally they're cubes (which, by the way, is much easier to realize), but I also made three flowers:

Sadly they have to rest for one week to unfold their full aroma, so I can't tell you how they taste until then (well, the one I tried was quite good, even without resting. So I'm really curious about how they will taste in a week =)).

87. Magic ink

Yesterday, when I thought about a quick flower I could make after a long day, I remembered one thing I did in my childhood: writing with magic ink =)

Take:

A bit of lemon juice

A sheet of paper to write on with the lemon juice

A lighter

  And: Tadaaaa =)

86. Ice-flower

On Friday I made this quick flower on my way home, after a joyful birthday party of a friend.

85. Mandala without contours

Actually I planned to do something else for today, but it didn't work like I had planned (the way from head to paper can be tremendously hard...). So I made another mandala, this time not only without contours from the internet but actually without contours ;)

84. Rock sugar

This night I just made a quick fower from rock sugar.
I love this kind of sugar: It looks beautiful, it tastes much better than white sugar and it makes this lovely cracking noise when you add it to hot drinks. That's the sound of winter =)

And now I'm so much looking forward to falling into my bed... Good night!

83. Christmas cookies

Today a very good friend and I baked a great amount of christmas cookies =) One of them are my favourites: Hildabrötchen. They consist of shortcrust (Mürbteig), jam and icing sugar and I'm totally addicted to them. (If you are interested in the secret family recipe just tell me ;) ).

And here's how they originally look like (at least in our family; you can also make them in shape of a star, circle or what else you like).

82. Earrings #1

Yesterday I began making some earrings out of paper clip flowers, autumn leaves I had collected some time ago and had put between two layers of adhesive foil and wire. After a lot of cursing (the wire broke countless times and it seemed like nothing worked like I wanted) I finally finished the second one a few minutes ago.

81. Three motets

Today's flower is dedicated to my wonderful choir with which I had a great concert today (we rocked Dornburg :D) and will have two even better concerts tomorrow =)
Those are three of Telemann's motets (+ I added an "Amen" at the end - thought that fitted well ;) ) in shape of a flower. I thought, maybe putting them down on paper would help me to get them out of my mind. I can tell you tomorrow if it worked or if I spent my dreams singing them...

80. Hand cream

With yesterday's flower I oficially opened the hand cream season!

79. Red ribbons

To all those people living with HIV and AIDS, to those whom I met, and those whom I didn't meet.

I wish you resilience,
not in spite of your weakness,
but because of your inner strength.

I wish you friends
who don't love you despite your disease,
but because of everything you are.

I wish you happiness,
not in spite of your suffering,
but because of your life!

78. The flu flower

Today's the day I think I can say farewell to my flu. I'm really feeling better (except for this bloody sore throat I'm dealing with since this morning...). So there's nothing to keep me from going to university tomorrow (well, except for this damn sore throat, at least if it will get worse until tomorrow).

So, goodbye, flu flower! And don't take it too hard - I don't think you will stay alone too long. It's your time!

76. + 77. The flu

Well, the title already says everything: I've got a flu. The last two days I hardly didn't do anything else but staying in bed, drinking tea, sleeping and watching "Monk", a comedy detective series. So the two flowers of yesterday and today reflect my attempt of getting well soon, as there are some important appointments I will have to keep the next days.

75. Elisen-Lebkuchen

Today, after visiting the Christmas market on the "Wartburg" in Eisenach (which was very nice and my first Christmas market visit this year) I decided to prepare some gingerbread for tomorrow (they have to be dried one night before baking). I used almonds to decorate them, amongst others with flowers.

74. Advent wreath

Yesterday I made an Advent wreath =) For a short time I thought about making a flower-shaped one, but I don't think it would have worked... So I only used some flowers out of birch bark to decorate it. Yesterday I found that sufficient for a day's project, but today I am not really happy with it, because actually I didn't make the flowers but I only used them as decoration... Well, I think nevertheless I will count this as a "flower", but in the future I will try to avoid such "not really self-made flowers".

I like my wreath, though:

73. Cookie

Actually I had planned to go out tonight (we were having a night of science here in town, where you could get some insight into current research). But the seminar I had today was way too long (5 hrs) and my night had been way too short for feeling the motivation of going out again. So I decided to stay at home, watch films and drink hot chocolate instead. And I made this flower out of a cookie which I treated with a cookie cutter (I wanted to know if that works, and it does, indeed ;) ).

72. Beer bottle

Yesterday night I was out with some friends, dancing. We went somewhere I haven't been before and it was really fun! I was in bed at 4:15, but I could sleep until 9 so this was not that bad ;)
The foto of the flower was shot in the ladies' room with the mobile of my friend =)

71. Christmas decoration

Today I did my first christmas decoration this year. I know, it's not yet Advent, but I fetched my decoration from the attic (for on Saturday I will make an Advent wreath) and I couldn't hold myself back =) It's out of straw-hearts and one star and it's hanging at the glass part of my room door.

70. Otz

Maybe you've noticed that I left out Monday's flower. That was because I simply forgot to make a flower that day. Well, actually I thought a lot about which flower I could make on Monday evening, but I was preparing a presentation for a seminar and in the course of that I forgot my flower.

So I did another drawing yesterday, again inspired by Tuesday's seminar but referring to a lecture we had last semester. And another insider ;)

69. Pilz-Variable

On Tuesday I had a quite, well, "not so interesting" seminar. I wouldn't say useless, because this time I actually took something out of it:

Well, that's an insider. I just thought about explaining it, but that would take too long, I think...

68. Rahmkuchen

I don't know what to do with our internet. At the moment it seems impossible to use it in the mornings and evenings. It keeps crashing down every few minutes to seconds... So, finally, I decided to post the past days' flowers now, in the afternoon ;)

This one I made on Sunday, after a really great evening with some of my friends. We had coq au vin resp. "Gemüse" au vin (for the vegetarian among us) and, as dessert, "Rahmfladen", which are round, flat cakes from yeast dough with cream on top. Because there was so much cream left over, I made another yeast dough and, after the others had left, I made a cream cake with a flower out of cinnamon-sugar:

67. Rubber band

After a long and joyful and murderous day (I was hosting a crime-dinner this night) I made a rather simple and quick flower out of a rubber band.
And now I will fall to bed, heading a much too short night before another long and joyful (and hopefully not murderous) day.

66. Punk duck

Some weeks ago, while I was at the post office, I found out that they were selling saving boxes which you can paint on your own, with some special felt-tips. Instantaneously I thought "Oh, I have to do that! A saving cow with flowers..." But I didn't like the idea of painting it with felt-tips because I didn't think it would look so nice. So, after some see-saw, I decided not to buy the set.

I didn't think a lot about this until today, when I saw this white ceramic saving duck while I was strolling through a shop (one of those which have simply everything).

This way I got to use again my old ceramic colours (with which my mother and I once in my childhood painted some dishes). Wow, now that I think about that... They must be like 10 to 15 years old...

The outcome is a very colourful saving duck. I will put it into the oven tomorrow for burning the colours into the ceramic.

65. How to make a hot chocolate

First you take a cup of hot milk (or, in my case, oatmilk). Then you make a flower out of some pieces of dark chocolate (the darker, the bitter... eh, better) and two teaspoons of sugar.

Next, you add the flower to the milk and stir...
And voilà:

64. Another day in theatre

On Wednesday we were at the national theatre in Weimar again , this time for the play "Die Dreigroschenoper" by Bert Brecht, with music composed by Kurt Weill. I liked it very much, the actors and the stage director really did a great job by bringing the play to stage.

When I had arrived at home I tried making a flower by cutting my ticket into, well, the shape of a flower... ;) Then I burned the edges (Note: Never do that again in a closed room, especially not with entrance tickets, they smell like hell...) and hoped that the outcome would still look like a flower. It did not. But after adding some details I was ok with it ;)

63. Light and shadow

After my internet crashing down yesterday evening every few minutes, here finally comes the flowers of the past three days =)

This one I made on Tuesday, after coming home from my Jazzdance course and some lovely hours at the Mexican with my flatmate, drinking Margaritas and eating Quesadillas with this incredibly delicious beans'-purée.

As I was quite tired, I wanted to do a quick flower without much preparation. Well, the preparations didn't need much time (just cutting out the contours of a flower from white paper). But it took some time until I had this foto, as it wasn't that easy to get one with the right focus and which wasn't wiggly.

One quite cool effect I didn't expect was the fact that every contour appeared 5 times. This was due to the light I used, a headlamp with 5 LEDs.

I think I will do that again soon. I especially like the look of those objects, overlayed by that flower. I have to find out how that can be made with other pictures and people instead of objects...

62. Table light

Today I finished the project I had already started yesterday: a table light out of oiled paper (thank you Lena for this idea!), printed with my favourite bars from all the songs of our christmas concerts.

Actually I wanted to stamp out flowers all over the surface, but technically this was impossible so I only did it at the upper edge.

This is a very personal project and a wonderful souvenir. I think I will also make one with the songs of our past and next year's summer concert =)

61. Waffles

Yesterday I came back from a wonderful, cheerful but nevertheless exhausting weekend with the student's choir of my university. We did great progress with our christmas programme and apart from that we had a lot of fun singing, playing group games and, well, maybe the alcohol did its part, too...

Since I came home in the afternoon, the songs we will sing at our concerts are haunting my mind. So I decided to do something of them. But as it took a bit too long to complete it yesterday, and as suddenly I had this weird and persistent appetite for waffles, I made another flower count for Sunday:

60. Eggshell

On Saturday we had our first morning in our youth hostel in the Thuringian Forest, where I passed the weekend with my choir, practicing for our christmas concerts.

We had a breakfast buffet with everything you need for a great start into the day. I was delighted to see there were also boiled eggs, as normally I don't boil eggs for breakfast, but nevertheless love them =)

I made a quick flower from the eggshells before rehearsal began:

P.S.: On Friday I totally forgot to make a flower. This was the first time something like this occured. On some days I didn't think of it during the day but in the evenings I always remembered that I had to make a flower. Sometimes, when I didn't have the time or it was too late, I postponed a project to the next day. But this time I didn't even think about it until the next morning. After some thinking I decided not to substitute the flower I forgot on Friday by a flower made on another day. I will count on normally and finish my yearlong project one day later. I think this is the solution that feels the most right to me.

59. Weckmänner

Today was another fun-day. In the afternoon we met to bake "Weckmänner", small manakins from yeast dough which are eaten on St. Martin's day (11th of November). Well, not much of a surprise, I also made a flower:

After eating some of the Weckmänner and drinking Glühwein (spiced hot punch), we went outside into the forest with our lanterns and some torches and did a procession. It was a bit creepy, very dark and foggy, and really a cool way to spend an early November evening =)

58. Stollen sweets

Yesterday I baked the first kind of christmas-pastry this year: Stollen! Me and my friend Verena baked those beauties all day long... It was so much fun!

Verena had the idea of making stollen sweets (Stollenkonfekt). I made a star, an angel (not really recognizable...) and, of course, a flower =)

57. Stamped-out flowers

When I was at my hometown last weekend, I bought an instrument to stamp out flowers (after searching for something like that here in Jena for several days...).

This is the first thing I made with it, the decoration of a sheet of paper for a birthday present of a good friend of mine.
I think this was the beginning of a looong friendship =) (between me and my stamped-out flowers instrument)

(I made this on Tuesday but until now somehow didn't manage to post it here...)

56. A sandwich

I went to a party last night and when I came home early this morning I was soo hungry... That's when this picture happened:

55. Another birthday - another decoration

On Sunday my grandmother celebrated her 90th birthday. It was a lovely day and I was glad that I could be with almost my whole family (and my family is really big!).
Like on my uncle's birthday there was a decoration on the tables. And like on my uncle's birthday of course I couldn't resist to play with it (but at least this time nothing flew through the air...).

Those flowers stand for this lovely day and for the hope that there will many more like that.
